ONI Bureau: Odisha today remembered its legendary leader and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik on his 102nd Birth Anniversary by organizing several programmes and paying him tribute by offering flowers at his statues.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated Ama Gaon, Ama Vikas programme through video conferencing from State Secretariat on the occasion of Panchayati Raj Divas and Biju Jayanti.
Born on 5 March 1916 to Lakshminarayan and Ashalata Patnaik at Cuttack, Biju Patnaik was educated at the prestigious Ravenshaw College in Odisha but due to his interest in aviation he dropped out and trained as a pilot.
The fearless pilot took up many challenges and played a crucial role during the Quit India Movement.
Remembering the great Biju Babu on his Jayanti. He was a visionary who tirelessly served the people of Odisha and the nation. His efforts empowered lakhs of people and freed them from the clutches of poverty.
