Rahul Gandhi launches ‘Chasi Banchao Padyatra’ in Bargarh

Rahul-Gandhi-BargarhCongress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, who arrived at Jharsuguda aistrip this morning on a two-day Odisha visit, met the family members of Sanand Kathar, the farmer who committed suicide in Debahal village of Bagarh district.

Rahul launched his ‘Chasi Banchao Padyatra’ from the same Debahal village. He will address a rally in Rengali. Another farmer Sudam Mahajura, a young farmer in Belbahali village under Sadar block of Bargarh, had committed suicide yesterday.

During his Padyatra, Rahul would interact with displaced tribals, farmers as well as students of Attabira College. He will also hold talks with intellectuals and eminent citizens of Western Odisha.

Rahul will spend the night at Ashok Nivas in Burla and leave for Cuttack tomorrow morning to visit Sishu Bhawan, which has been in the centre of controversy due to infant deaths. Later, he will hold a meeting with Congress leaders at Congress Bhavan in Bhubaneswar and address a meeting of SC/ST cadres at Utkal Mandap in the capital city.

Before concluding his Odisha visit, Rahul is scheduled to meet chit fund victims, civil society members, senior media persons and social activists tomorrow.
