Rs.1 Lakh Insurance Cover for Journalists Working in Odisha

Atanu-KalingaBhubaneswar, Aug 29. Odisha government has approved a proposal with a provision to provide insurance cover worth Rs. 1 lakh per annum for working journalists in the state. This information was revealed by Information and PR Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak while answering to the questions of legislators in Odisha Assembly on Friday.

The Minister said that the state government would provide insurance cover worth Rs. 1 lakh to journalists working in Odisha. He said that the tender process was under progress and a list of accredited journalists would be collected from various news and media houses.

As per the proposal, five members of a journalist’s family could get benefited from the scheme, he said. Answering a question over minimum qualification for journalists raised by MLA Dibya Sankar Mishra, the Minister said that the state had no such plants to set minimum qualification required for a journalist.
