ICC T20 World Cup: New Zealand thrash Pakistan

New Zealand registered their third victory in this tournament to become the first team to virtually qualify for the semifinals. They defeated Pakistan by 22 runs.

Earlier, New Zealand scored 180/5 in 20 overs. Martin Guptill was the top scorer at 80 off 48 balls. He hit 10 boundaries and 3 sixes. Corey Anderson (21) and Ross Taylor (36*) were the top scorers. Mohammad Sami and Shahid Afridi took two wickets each.

Chasing a victory target of 181, Pakistan started well, but failed to keep up the momentum. They finished at 158/5 in 20 overs. Sharjeel Khan (47), Ahmed Shehzad (30) and Umar Akmal (24) were the top scorers. Mitchell Santner and Adam Milne took two wickets each. Guptill was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
